Police arrest two suspect for ‘supplying ammunition to kidnappers’ in Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara

The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of two individuals for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to kidnappers operating across Kaduna, Katsina, and Zamfara states.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Mansir Hassan, the police spokesperson, reported that the suspects, Dahiru Liman (47) from Kaduna and Sani Abdullahi Makeri (45) from Katsina, were apprehended on Saturday. During the arrest, officers recovered one improvised AK-47 rifle and five rounds of 9mm ammunition from the suspects.

In addition, the police have detained two more individuals, Aminu Saleh (25) and Jafar Ibrahim (24), for attempted kidnapping and cattle rustling. These suspects were allegedly involved in cattle theft from farmers in Kasuwan Magani, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. They have admitted to their crimes and disclosed that they were part of a larger syndicate consisting of four other members who are still at large.

Furthermore, on August 22, 2024, Shafiu Abdullahi reported to Operation Fushin Kada that he had been receiving threats demanding a ransom of N10 million, with the threat of kidnapping if the payment was not made. The Tracking and Response Team acted swiftly, utilizing advanced techniques to locate and arrest the suspects involved in this extortion scheme.

The apprehended suspects, Umar Baso, Shehu Filani, and Babangida Abdulkarim, are residents of Soba and Kajuru LGAs in Kaduna State. During interrogation, they confessed to their involvement and provided detailed accounts of their criminal activities.
