Napoli’s manager, Antonio Conte, confirmed that Victor Osimhen remains with the club amidst ongoing rumours about the Nigerian striker’s future. During a press conference on Saturday, Conte addressed the speculation surrounding Osimhen.
Back in June, Conte mentioned “previous agreements” between Napoli and Osimhen, indicating the club would consider selling the player if his buyout clause was met. “I am aware of the situation regarding Osimhen. There are agreements, making this a unique case. I can only provide my support,” Conte stated. “He is an exceptional player, but I cannot delve into the specifics as it pertains to prior agreements that have been clearly communicated to me.”
In his latest update, Conte reiterated that Osimhen is “a Napoli player today” and noted, “there are no changes” in his status. He also mentioned his conversation with the 25-year-old striker, emphasizing the importance of hard work despite the existing agreement.
“I spoke to Victor, and there are no changes to his situation. He’s a top player,” Conte said. “He’s a Napoli player today, so he needs to work hard, even though we have an agreement regarding his potential exit, and the outcome is still uncertain.”
Reports suggest that several top European clubs, including Arsenal, PSG, and Chelsea, are interested in acquiring Osimhen before the transfer window closes.
