Yunusa Muhammad Danyaya, the Emir of Ningi dies after 46 years on the throne

The first-class traditional ruler, whose emirate is in Bauchi state, passed away on Sunday at the age of 88. Danyaya had ruled for 46 years, having ascended the throne in 1978.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, while mourning the late Emir, praised his enduring legacy, noting that it “will inspire future generations.”

In a statement released by Mukhtar Gidado, the governor’s media aide, Mohammed extended his heartfelt condolences to the Emir’s immediate family, the Ningi Emirate Council, and the people of Bauchi state.

“We share in your grief during this profound loss and pray that Almighty Allah grants the departed eternal peace in Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah also provide his family, the people of Ningi, and all who are affected by this loss the strength and patience to endure it,” the governor said.

“His Royal Highness will be remembered as a father figure to all, a pillar of strength, and a guiding light in our state. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Ameen.”

The late Emir had pursued higher education at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU), where he completed a one-year public administration course between 1956 and 1957. He later earned a diploma in public administration from ABU between 1960 and 1962.
