Former President Donald Trump made an emotional return to the public stage just two days after surviving an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.
Trump made his first appearance since the incident at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. He first appeared on the big screen, walking down the tunnel to take his seat at the event. The audience erupted in loud cheers as Trump, sporting a bandage on his ear grazed by a bullet on Saturday, made his way to his seat.
The former president entered the arena to Lee Greenwood’s iconic song, “God Bless the USA,” and received a thunderous ovation from those in attendance. He then took his seat to listen to remarks from various “everyday Americans.” At times, he appeared emotional as supporters detailed why they believe he should return to the White House in 2025.
Despite the near-fatal shooting, Trump insisted that the convention proceed as planned. He arrived in Milwaukee on Sunday night, making his first public appearance just over two days after the attempt on his life.
On Monday, Trump officially secured the Republican nomination during the event. His son, Eric Trump, who serves as the Florida Delegation Chair, pledged the delegates that secured the nomination for the former president.
Additionally, Trump announced his highly anticipated decision on a running mate, selecting Ohio Sen. JD Vance as his vice-presidential pick.
