The Managing Director of Toyota (Nigeria) Limited (TNL), Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo, announced that the company will leverage its extensive network of workshops to support the Federal Government’s campaign for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered vehicle conversions.
During the Toyota Motor Show in Lagos, where TNL launched two new models, the Belta and Rumion, Ade-Ojo shared, “We are finalizing arrangements with various partners to use our network of workshops for converting vehicles to CNG-powered.”
Ade-Ojo also revealed plans to introduce three new electric vehicles in Nigeria over the next three years as part of supporting the government’s green initiative. “By the end of this year, we’ll introduce our first hybrid electric vehicle, the Cross. Next year, we’ll bring in the RAV4 hybrid, and by late next year or early 2026, we plan to launch the Land Cruiser Prado hybrid,” he stated.
Reflecting on last year’s sales, Ade-Ojo mentioned that Nigeria sold about 10,000 new vehicles, with Toyota accounting for approximately 1,500 units. This year, the market is projected to sell around 15,000 new vehicles, and Toyota aims to double its performance from the previous year.
The unveiling of the Toyota Belta and Rumion was a highlight of the inaugural Toyota Motor Show, where Ade-Ojo was assisted by Rear Admiral Yusuf, representing Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla. The event featured vehicle displays, special after-sale packages, test drives, and engaging interactions over three days at The Podium, Lekki. The show included sections for Body and Paint, Spare Parts, and Service.
Alongside Ade-Ojo, other TNL executives provided detailed information on the displayed vehicles and offered after-sales advice. “This show is for all Toyota customers and Nigerians interested in buying Toyota vehicles,” Ade-Ojo said. “While we continue to participate in other fairs, this exclusive Toyota Motor Show allows us to focus on our customers’ needs, showcasing our range of vehicles and highlighting our after-sale services, spare parts availability, and body and paint services.”
The event provided the TNL team with a unique opportunity for one-on-one interactions with customers, offering free vehicle diagnostics and test drives in a serene and comfortable environment. Ade-Ojo expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the event’s success, noting, “It was a wonderful outing. Everyone appreciated the chance to engage directly with our team. The after-sale area drew significant interest, and the free diagnostics were well received.”
