Bala Mohammed, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors’ forum, has declared that the party intends to reclaim all leadership positions currently held by other parties. Speaking in Enugu on Wednesday at a forum meeting, the Bauchi governor highlighted the importance of unity and strategic planning among the PDP governors.
On Tuesday, PDP governors arrived in Enugu to discuss strategies ahead of the upcoming off-cycle governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states. Mohammed emphasized that the meeting was focused on strengthening the party and addressing issues affecting both the party and the nation.
“We are here to unify ourselves, discuss party-related issues, and various matters that concern us,” he stated. “Our agenda includes governance, party administration, inter-party relations, congresses, and other necessary actions to offer Nigerians a credible alternative.”
He stressed that the PDP would not allow Nigeria to descend into chaos, given the party’s shared history and aspirations for the country. “It is crucial for the party to reclaim its leadership in all states currently governed by other parties,” he asserted.
The forum chairman praised Peter Mbah, governor of Enugu, for hosting a successful meeting and ensuring the attendees’ comfort since their arrival.
Governors in attendance included Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), and Ahmed Fintiri (Adamawa).
In February, Mohammed affirmed the PDP’s readiness to offer Nigerians a better alternative and urged party members to unite and strategically prevent Nigeria from becoming a one-party state.
