Ogun State Government has sought for partnership of professional bodies to boost the infrastructural development of the state and its development plan.
The state Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, stated this while receiving the executive members of Nigerian Society of Engineers, Abeokuta branch, led by its chairman, Engineer Olumayowa Idowu during a courtesy call in his office at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital recently.
Onasanya said Governor Dapo Abiodun has engineered unprecedented development, which he said has turned the state into a massive construction site in all sectors of the construction industry.
According to him, the administration has constructed over 600 kilometres of solid roads across the state just as it recently flagged off the reconstruction of Abeokuta-Ita-Lagos dual carriage way.
The HoS also said the construction in the housing sector and industrial sector have been on the increase, noting that the ongoing works at the cargo airport projects among others attest to the engineering works in the state.
“The government is committed to construction of roads and other infrastructural developments that would stand the test of time, adding that the government, however, needs the partnership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers toward advancing the course of developmental strides of the government,” Onasanya said.
He added that the government is fully committed to the career advancement of public servants, even as the various resolutions of the National Council of Establishment have been domesticated in the state.
While thanking Governor Abiodun for approving the entry point of engineers from GL 08 to GL 09, the HoS therefore promised to look into the careers of engineers in the civil service in line with the extant laws and PS rules.
He congratulated Mayowa Idowu on his election as the Chairman of the State branch of Nigeria Society of Engineers, describing him as a man of track record and untainted pedigree whose wealth of experience would impact the body positively.
Responding, Idowu commended Governor Abiodun on prompt implementation and domestication of the National Council on Establishment as regards the entry point of graduate engineers from grade level 08 to grade level 09 and requested for the implementation of the second part of the circular by recharting the level of other affected members for career enhancement.
