Dr. Bello Matawalle, the former Governor of Zamfara State and current Minister of State for Defence, has been honored with the Excellence in Leadership award by the Concerned Citizens of Six Geopolitical Zones in Nigeria.
The award was presented to Dr. Matawalle by the Bassey Ayanga-led group at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Defence, Ship House, in Abuja.
Ayanga lauded Dr. Matawalle for his steadfast leadership and administrative skills, particularly highlighting his effective handling of the conflict along the Forcados River, specifically in Okuama, Ughelli South, Delta State. His efforts in resolving the crisis were widely recognized and appreciated by Nigerians.
Ayanga emphasized that Dr. Matawalle’s leadership brought significant peace to Zamfara State during his tenure, which was notably free from attacks.
“Sir, we deem you deserving of this award due to your commitment to building a new nation and renewing the hopes of its people,” Ayanga said.
In his response, Dr. Matawalle expressed his gratitude to the group and reiterated the importance of maintaining peace across Nigeria.
