The Lagos State Government clarified yesterday that it has not reinstated the monthly environmental sanitation nor will it begin restricting movement in July.
Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, dismissed the circulating news as misinformation spread by mischief makers aiming to confuse residents.
“There will be no restriction of movements on the last Saturday of July, contrary to the false reports,” Wahab stated.
He further clarified, “The Governor mentioned that state officials will actively participate every week by joining residents in voluntarily cleaning their environment and spreading awareness. However, at no point did the Governor announce that the monthly exercise and movement restriction would commence in July or any other month for now.”
