Labour Party senator defects to APC

Imo East Senator Francis Ezenwa Defects from Labour Party to APC

Senator Francis Ezenwa, representing Imo East Senatorial District, has officially left the Labour Party (LP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection was announced during the Senate plenary session on Tuesday by Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.

In his defection letter, Ezenwa cited internal crises within the Labour Party as the primary reason for his decision. He also emphasized that his move was in alignment with the Constitution.

Following the reading of his letter, Ezenwa received a warm welcome from APC lawmakers and was escorted to his new seat in the APC section of the Senate Chamber.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Senate had suspended its rules to admit Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma into the chamber. Uzodimma, who is the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, was present with his team to witness Ezenwa’s defection.
