House Agrees To Give Up 50% Of Salary For Six Months To Fight Hunger Across The Nation

In a significant move to address the pressing issue of hunger in Nigeria, the House of Representatives pledged to donate 50% of their salaries for the next six months during a plenary session on Thursday, presided over by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.

Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu presented the amended motion, urging his fellow legislators to support this substantial gesture of sacrifice.

During his speech, Kalu emphasized the urgency and importance of the action, highlighting the efforts of the current government. He stated, “This government is doing its best, but one year is not enough to address the challenges of this country. I want to plead with our colleagues to sacrifice 50% of their salaries for a period of six months.”

This call for a collective sacrifice underscores the House of Representatives’ commitment to alleviating hunger and supporting the government’s efforts in tackling this critical issue.
