Gov Otti told new appointees to desist from stealing and bribery

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has sworn in his newly appointed special advisers, as well as heads and members of state government agencies, with a stern warning to avoid corrupt practices.

During the ceremony at Government House, Umuahia, the governor emphasized that his administration is fully accountable to both the people of the state and to God. He urged the appointees to work diligently and maintain high ethical standards by refraining from theft, bribery, and any corrupt activities in their official duties.

Otti stressed that his administration has been equitable in resource allocation across all sections of the state and cautioned the new appointees against engaging in narrow-minded or self-serving behaviors.

“To be clear, this role will not make you immensely wealthy, as stealing, soliciting kickbacks, or participating in fraudulent activities that enrich individuals at the expense of the public are strictly prohibited. The consequences for such actions will be severe,” he stated.

“This administration has zero tolerance for corruption, and engaging in dishonest practices is the quickest way to be removed from your position. If we find any evidence of self-serving activities that contradict our government’s values, we will have no choice but to ask you to leave and potentially refer you to law enforcement for further investigation,” Otti warned.

He assured the appointees that they would be provided with the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively and advised them to stay focused and undeterred by opposition criticism as long as they are acting correctly.

The governor also mentioned that the state’s resources are consistently directed towards developing critical areas of need.

Among those sworn in were Kenechukwu Nwosu, Special Adviser on Education, and Green Amakwe, Special Adviser on Promotion. Additionally, chairpersons and members of the Abia State House of Assembly Service Commission, the Abia State Commission for Welfare of Disabled Persons, and the Abia Civil Service Commission were inaugurated.
