Edo: I’m unofficial APC member – Philip Shaibu

Reinstated Edo State Deputy Governor, Philips Shaibu, declared on Friday that he now considers himself an unofficial member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Despite this, Shaibu confirmed that he remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as he has not formally severed ties with the party.

Shaibu made these comments during an appearance on Arise Television’s “Morning Show.” He clarified his support for the APC governorship candidate in Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, indicating that his political alignment has shifted away from the PDP.

“In the PDP now, everybody can support whoever they like,” Shaibu stated. “The constitution guarantees that you can support who you like and belong to any political party.”

Recently, Shaibu had donated campaign vehicles to Okpebholo, which coincided with his ongoing conflict with Governor Godwin Obaseki. This conflict led to Shaibu’s impeachment as deputy governor.

However, an Abuja Federal High Court reinstated Shaibu as deputy governor on Thursday.
