Breaking – A female passenger dies in during a Keke Marwa trip in Lagos

Panic ensued on Friday when an unidentified woman died in a tricycle while travelling through the Isheri-Idimu area of Lagos State.

It was learned that the woman had boarded the tricycle along the Isheri-Igando Road and was heading towards the Isheri end of the area. Upon reaching her destination, the tricycle rider notified her, but she did not respond. To his shock, he discovered she was motionless.

An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the incident, told our correspondent that the rider alerted passersby, who then rushed to the scene and realized that the passenger was no longer breathing.

“I was near the Isheri bus stop when I heard the tricycle rider shouting for help. When we approached, we saw a woman with her head resting on the tricycle’s barricade, unresponsive,” the eyewitness said. “The rider said she was supposed to get off at Isheri, which is the last stop for tricycles in that area. When she didn’t move, he raised the alarm. The place quickly became crowded because it was such a strange situation.”

Another eyewitness, identified only as Sodiq, said residents attempted to revive her but to no avail. “People tried their best to see if they could revive her but couldn’t. Shortly after, the police arrived, and the crowd dispersed quickly to avoid being implicated,” he added. “Some speculated she might have had an ailment or suffered a heart attack.”

The tricycle was taken to the Idimu police station, while the deceased was transported to an undisclosed hospital.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, were unsuccessful as calls went unanswered, and a text message sent to him had not been replied to at the time of this report.
