A pregnant Chibok girl with two children says, “I was married to eight terrorists.”

Ihyi Abdul, the most recently released victim of the April 2014 abduction in Chibok, Borno State, revealed that she was married to eight men while in Boko Haram captivity.

The Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, handed over Abdul and 332 other individuals to the Borno State government for rehabilitation. Among the rescued were 110 women and 220 children, saved during a clearance operation in the Bama-Pulka axis of Sambisa Forest.

At a presentation at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, Maj-Gen. Waheed Shuaibu, Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, stated that 27-year-old Abdul, who is three months pregnant, was rescued on June 23, 2024, along with her two children.

During a briefing at the Operation Hadin Kai Theater Command headquarters in Maimalari Barracks, Maiduguri, Abdul shared her ordeal: “I trekked for days before reaching a military checkpoint in Nigeria where they took my children and me in.

“I married eight men and had three children with different husbands. I did not attempt to escape earlier because I chose to remain in Sambisa Forest until now.

“We, the Chibok girls, are not kept in the same camp. I don’t know why some are still in captivity, but those of us here chose to stay in Sambisa, while others have not had the chance to escape.

“As for education, I cannot say anything for now. I am not sure I can continue with it.”
