Election Fraud – Some of the former Abia governors came to power through manipulation – Otti

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has affirmed his administration’s commitment to ending corruption and dismantling the divisive, clannish governance system in the state.

Governor Otti, speaking at Wesley Methodist Church in Umuekwule Afugiri, Umuahia, during a thanksgiving service for the late Mrs. Victoria Nkolika Onwuneme, asserted that many past leaders of the state did not come to power through the genuine will of the people but through alleged electoral manipulation.

Otti emphasized that future leaders of Abia State will be chosen through the people’s genuine will. “For the first time in several years, the Abia people have installed their own government. I state this without fear of contradiction because I am from here. I know that many who have held this office before did not come through the ballot box but through manipulation. I believe that the people of Abia are now resolute in saying enough is enough. From now on, we will elect our leaders ourselves,” he declared.

Accompanied by top cabinet members and legislators, Governor Otti expressed gratitude to the church for their prayers and support for his administration. He stated that his administration is focused on practicing good governance and ensuring the equitable distribution of democratic dividends across the state.

He also emphasized that his administration does not discriminate based on state or local government of origin, asserting that anyone who lives in Abia and pays taxes is considered an Abian.

In his sermon, the officiating priest, Very Rev. Ogbonnaya Orji, encouraged the congregation to anchor their faith in God.
