In Abia, gunmen kill three people including a police inspector.

Gunmen have killed Police Inspector Shehu Oyibo and three others in Abia State.

The incident occurred on Sunday along Ngwa Road during a shootout between the attackers and a police patrol team.

Abia police spokesperson Maureen Chinaka stated that two of the gunmen were also killed by the police operatives.

The three other deceased victims were identified as Chika Godliveth, Onyenaturuchi Jonah, and Eniobong Godsgift Clement.

“The armed men opened fire on the police personnel, who repelled the attack, preventing what could have been a more tragic outcome,” Chinaka said.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the mortuary.

Chinaka reassured the public of their safety and noted that an investigation into the incident is underway.

“Abians are urged to report any suspicious movements or individuals with bullet injuries to the nearest police station,” she added.
