The All Progressives Congress chapter in Zamfara State has once again experienced a crisis after federal lawmaker Hon. Sani Jaji, who represents the Kaura-named Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency, and his allies established a new faction inside the party.
The Honourable Aminu Abubakar MC, the chairman of the Sani Jaji-led APC faction, stated during a news conference in Gusau on Wednesday that the reason they formed their faction was because the party leaders had failed to bring their people together out of self-interest.
“Those claiming to be party leaders have failed to bring the party’s members together because of their self-serving interests,” he declared.
Abubakar expressed displeasure with the recent stakeholders’ reconciliation meeting, claiming that no one from the Jaji camp was invited despite it being organised by the state’s previous governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, who is currently the minister of defence.
He emphasised that Honourable Sani Jaji, a party stakeholder in the state, was not invited to the aforementioned meeting, indicating that it was not conducted in good faith.
“Without Honourable Sani Jaji, how can the APC state chapter be complete?” He asked
“Who else can we consider a stakeholder if Honourable Sani Jaji isn’t one of the APC’s in Zamfara State?
“Some individuals claiming to be state APC leaders are making a deliberate effort to end the party.
“We have chosen to establish a new APC Secretariat in the state as a result, and we have designated the party’s vice chairman and assistant secretary to assume leadership roles until the new executive members are elected.”
Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa reportedly made similar claims, according to Arewa PUNCH, and he also founded his own faction.
As a result of these events, the APC’s state branch has now split into three groups, with the Minister of Defence, Bello Mohammed, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, and Honourable Sani Jaji leading each faction.
