PDP gives Oshiomhole a poor tenure rating.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has accused former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, of presiding over one of the most corrupt, disorganized, and dishonest administrations in Edo State during his tenure as governor. This statement was made by Rev. Olu Martins, Deputy Director-General of Media and Publicity for the Asue/Ogie Campaign Council, during a press conference in Benin City.

Martins alleged that Oshiomhole, who is now a senator representing Edo North, failed to deliver good governance while in office but has been critical of Governor Godwin Obaseki of the PDP. He challenged Oshiomhole to point out areas where his administration outperformed Obaseki’s.

“As we approach the September 21 governorship election, it is clear that the APC, under Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has perfected the art of lying, even at this age,” Martins said. He emphasized that the APC is behaving as though it was never in power in Edo State, constantly blaming Obaseki for the state’s issues.

Martins recalled that Oshiomhole’s tenure, from 2008 to 2016, was marked by corruption, chaos, and dishonesty, based on his own experience in civil society at the time. He also cited a former commissioner for information in Oshiomhole’s administration, Orobosa Omo-Ojo, who in his book “The Breach of Trust” criticized Oshiomhole’s leadership style.

Meanwhile, Oshiomhole, during an APC governorship campaign rally in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, called for an audit of the privatisation and management of the Edo Specialist Hospital, a project initiated during his tenure, to ensure accountability. He also accused Obaseki and PDP’s candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, of planning to rig the upcoming election.

Oshiomhole urged voters to protect their votes, warning them not to allow PDP leaders to manipulate the electoral process by tampering with Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He emphasized the importance of the September 21 governorship election, calling on voters to support the APC’s candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
