The legal team representing the family of the late Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has raised concerns about sensitive information regarding his death being publicly released. One of the team’s leaders, Taiwo Odumosu, emphasized in a statement obtained by *PUNCH Metro* on Sunday that such details should be shared with the police rather than the public.
Odumosu urged anyone with information that could assist in investigating the singer’s death to come forward and contact the legal team or the police. He noted that providing relevant information would help ensure the safety of witnesses and suspects, facilitating a proper legal process.
The statement read, “Considering the nature of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad)’s death and the information being shared publicly, which should ideally be provided to the police, the Aloba Family’s legal team advises anyone with valuable information to reach out to us. This will enable proper legal coordination. Alternatively, the police can be contacted to ensure the protection of witnesses and suspects.”
Odumosu also mentioned that the coroner’s inquest had issued witness summons and that the family was seeking assistance in gathering facts to understand what led to Mohbad’s untimely death.
“Please note that Joseph Aloba’s sole interest at this time is to uncover the truth behind his son’s passing. He is not pursuing personal or family relationships at this point. The Coroner’s Court is the appropriate forum for disclosing any information that can aid in the court’s fact-finding efforts,” the statement added.
Mohbad, who died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, was formerly signed to Marlian Music, owned by Naira Marley, before leaving the label in February 2022. The Lagos State Police Command launched a 13-member special investigation team on September 18, 2023, to probe his death, leading to the arrests of Naira Marley and Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry. Mohbad’s body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
