Hunger protest – Police deploy 4,200 policemen

Ahead of the proposed nationwide protest, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has deployed 4,200 officers throughout the nation’s capital. In addition to the police presence, explosive ordinance device experts have been stationed at strategic locations.

In a statement on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, emphasized that the deployment aims to ensure public safety, protect protesters, and prevent the protests from being hijacked by non-state actors.

Adeh also mentioned that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, will conduct raids on identified black spots, uncompleted buildings, and shanties, along with stop-and-search operations.
